St. Clare Health Mission

            When creating my print ad for St. Clare Health Mission, I wanted to target the general public as my audience for the reason that many people in the La Crosse area, as well as southern Minnesota are aware of what this not for profit clinic does.  I wanted patients, as well as future patients to understand the benefits behind this mission and to knowledge those who are unaware if they can receive free medical care.

            The intended objective behind this print ad was to keep it simple.  Knowing that St. Clare Health Mission receives it’s funding mostly through donation it is important to spend money where it is needed the most.  Keeping the color choice the same as the previous projects shows unison behind the projects, and also shows patients that we have put some thought into these ads and projects.

            When creating this print ad, I followed the tools from the notes taken in class, specifically from the power points, and I also looked up examples on the Internet for different ideas of print ads.              I strategically placed the logo at the bottom right because the eye will generally go to that area, and hopefully that will be a lasting impression on the viewer.

            Overall, I am very pleased with the final outcome of the print ad created for St. Clare Health Mission.  Although it is simple and plain, I believe that the audience will understand that the goal of this ad was to attract patients, as well as educate those who are not familiar with this organization and attract them to this mission.

Brochure/Flyer Reflection

St. Clare Health Mission

            When creating my brochure and flyer for St. Clare Health Mission, I kept three things in mind.  First, I wanted to make sure that the target audience that my project’s hopefully reflected was the correct viewers.  Second, I wanted the intended objective to be clear for my audience, and lastly, I wanted the message that these piece’s of work to be portrayed effectively.

            The target audience for St. Clare Health Mission’s brochure and flyer, would be those who need medical attention, or would like medical attention, but do not receive help or cannot afford it.  Individuals who are not eligible for medical assistance programs, who do not have private health insurance, and whose income falls below 150% of federal guidelines may be eligible for care at the mission.  My hopes is that this brochure attracts this specific audience and aware them that there is help out there, especially for them.

            The intended objective of this brochure was to aware my audience that there is an organization out there that provides care for those who are not eligible.  In this instance, my company is not very well known, so creating a brochure and a flyer that was effective will hopefully attract and aware my audience of this organization. 

            The message that these pieces of work deliver is one that is confident of the help being offered, and most importantly an educational insight as to what this mission is all about and how they can either visit, or get involved by either volunteering or donating money.

            When creating these projects, I kept the colors along the same color scheme to create a sense of unison.  Since the logo that St. Clare Health Mission has to offer is a pixilated one, I chose to use it minimally within the brochure as well as the flyer.  Instead, I incorporated the dove that is portrayed and used that throughout the pieces of work.  On the flyer, I chose to make the information easily accessible, using bulleted form.  I believe this was effective causing the viewer to quickly read and understand what is being delivered.  For the brochure, I chose to keep it simple.  Since not many people are aware of this organization, I chose to offer information that one might want to learn in respect to the organization.  The brochure may appear as though it has a lot of information on it, it does, however, I believe that all of this information is crucial to having people understand the message, and the reasoning behind the St. Clare Health Mission.

            Overall, I am pleased with the finished products of both my flyer and brochure.  I believe that the message was clear, the audience was met, and the objective was set and achieved.

St. Clare Health Mission takes on the Swine flu

La Crosse, Wisc. — Within the last couple of months, the United States has been hit hard with a new virus, Swine flu.

            Swine flu, also known as the 2009 H1N1 influenza, is a human disease.  H1N1 is a respiratory infection, and can spread from person to person.

            As the number of H1N1 cases continue to rise, St. Clare Health Mission, a non-profit health care organization located in La Crosse, Wisc., has permitted screenings and tests, along with vaccines to prevent H1N1, and future cases of this epidemic.

            St. Clare Health Mission suggests patients receive the H1N1 vaccine to prevent the disease.  Because the supply of this vaccine may be low, patients may fall into three different phases depending on their lifestyle.

            Patients who fall into phase one include those who work in the medical field

or atmosphere, pregnant women, and children under the age of six months.

            Phase two patients include private health providers and public health efforts to the remainder of the populations of phase one.

            Phase three will include everyone else of the population whom didn’t fall into the other two phases.  Because of the weekly supply, ongoing vaccines will continue to take place.

            While the H1N1 can have cases ranging anywhere from mild to severe, precautions to prevent this epidemic is a must.

            St. Clare Health Mission suggests washing hands often with soap and water, covering nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth, and avoiding contact with sick people.

            With the increased awareness of this epidemic, and the rising of cases, St. Clare Health Mission continues to aware patients of symptoms to look for.  If flu like symptoms arise, especially difficulty breathing, vomiting, or dizziness, seek medical care immediately.

            Susan Brekke, clinic director of St. Clare Health Mission, said with the awareness of the epidemic and preventative techniques patients should take, knowledge of the epidemic will increase, while H1N1 decreases.

            “Hopefully people will take precautions to prevent themselves from this overwhelming health scare,” said Brekke.

            St. Clare Health Mission will continue to keep their doors open for health care

advice and screening.

            When creating my feature story for St. Clare Health Mission, I wanted to aware readers of the impact the Swine flu has on our society today.  With St. Clare Health Mission being a non-profit organization, I wanted patients, as well as future patients to know that the clinic offers vaccines, and also preventative care.

            The target market for this feature story would be anyone and everyone of any age.  With this epidemic being worldwide, its important everyone takes precautions to prevent from receiving this flu.

            St. Clare Health Mission is a clinic that is small, yet big enough to make an impact on those who participate within.  Although this feature story didn’t happen, my clinic is taking it into consideration as a way to attract more patients. 

            When creating this feature story, I followed the tools from the notes taken in class, specifically from the power points, and I also looked up examples on the Internet for layout formations.  I bolded things such as the title to attract readers the reason they would be reading this article.

            Overall, I am pleased with the feature story created for St. Clare Health Mission.  The main objective was to aware the population, specifically the La Crosse area, and I believe this feature story achieved its goal by educating those of the Swine flu.
